Frequently Asked Questions

How is WPM calculated?▼
WPM (Words Per Minute) is calculated by dividing the number of correctly typed characters by 5 (a standard word length) and then dividing by the time elapsed in minutes. Only correct characters count toward your WPM.
What is a good typing speed?▼
Average typing speed is 30-50 WPM. 50-70 WPM is considered good. 70-90 WPM is fast. Above 90 WPM is professional/pro level. Most office jobs require 40+ WPM.
How can I improve my typing speed?▼
Practice regularly, maintain proper posture, use all 10 fingers (touch typing), don't look at the keyboard, and focus on accuracy first — speed will follow naturally.
What do the difficulty levels mean?▼
Easy uses common everyday English words. Medium uses slightly longer and less common words. Hard uses programming and technical terminology.
